(english below)

Hallo David,

Festivals / Tour – Eine verdammt geile Zeit

Hi there. thank you for spending time for us! We appreciate that!

Let`s start:

Your new ep „the new vice“ will be released soon. We are looking forward for what we can expect on the new album, because the first single „i was born“ was listened on soundcloud over a 100.000 times! Thats awesome! Please tell us about the other songs of the ep?
Yeah, I Know was the second single released from the EP. The song is a bit moodier and sexier than our previous releases and it’s probably one of the funnest tracks to play live. It’s got a really intense ending that just builds and builds and the crowd tends to lose their mind live to it.
“Howling” is the song that is probably the most similar sounding track to the material on our first EP. It’s also a bit of a belter live and it’s just a fun no-frills punky pop tune. White Heat is the final track on the EP, it’s probably the poppiest song on the EP but we read a review of the EP recently where the reviewer said that it’s the most aggressive song! So there you go.

Next question in this context: what`s about a full length album? Any plans for that?
We’ve always been of the belief that you only have one shot at your debut album, and we want to make sure ours is the best we can do. So although we have taken our time, there is an album currently in the pipeline, and it should hopefully be out before next summer!

I read that you are loving bands like „the clash“ or „the ramones“ and having a kind of connection with the sound of em. But for me – your sound is less punk on the ep than more rock and roll or a bit of brit pop.
I think that’s pretty fair. We wouldn’t consider ourselves a punk band, there are elements in there for sure but as you say it’s more of a general rock n roll sound. Knees up, off the cuff, good time rock ‘n’ roll, you just can’t beat it. We’re huge fans of Brit Pop bands like Blur also and we can see the comparison to be drawn there.

It´s the hardest part creating an own style and not sounding like this or that, or a copy of the band XY these days. Are you thinking about things like that during writing songs?
Definitely. Our pedal boards are pretty basic so it’s not uncommon for us to play a bunch of chords or a riff that sounds similar to something we’ve heard before. If we feel that something we’re working on sounds like an existing song we’ll bin it though, we make a conscious effort to avoid sounding like other bands. In this day and age, it’s probably impossible to avoid drawing comparisons to bands that have come before but we’re still keen to strike out on our own.

It`s noticable that a lot of good, young and hungry bands, especially from ireland (Delorentos or Those black marks – for example) are on their way to us. What do you think about that? Is it a new style?
The world is so connected today that people are able to discover bands they love from every country, so maybe it is this connectivity, and not a new style. For ourselves as a band, we never wanted to just play in Ireland for the rest of our lives. We want to take our music to the world, and think this is must be the same for most bands with serious ambitions.

Next week, you are touring germany. Beside the Berlin gig, is it your first time visiting germany? And what are your experiences with an audience far from ireland?
We were fortunate enough to play our first German gig at Pure and Crafted Festival in Berlin this summer, and that was a whole lot of fun. From our experience European crowds are the best. From the Netherlands to France to Germany, people just lose themselves in the music, and that’s what we like to see!

Next touring question: Do you have time enough, watching new bands and making friendships with people? What are the coolest things happened on tour?
One of the best parts of being on tour is definitely being able to see a whole lot of new bands, and bands you may have admired your whole life. Making friends with other up and coming bands, or getting to have drunken conversations with your idols is great. The coolest things to happen on tour are probably not ok to print here. Although one of us did once get sick between Alt-J and Mumford and Son’s tour buses, that was quite the scene.

10 years in the future – what do you think where you are (as a band) and will you tell your children what happened in a bands life? 😀
In 10 years we would like to be releasing the best possible music we can create, and taking this to as many ears as possible in all corners of the earth. And perhaps we will tell our children some things, but safe the finer details for when they are old enough to make their own bad decisions.

Last one – i would like to throw a word or a term, and please let us know what do you think spontaneously:
Dublin – Family, friends, and some serious drinking.
Politics – The band’s favourite dinnertime conversation topic.
Joe Strummer – One of the good ‘uns. Left this earth too early.
Brexit – Stupid and misinformed. A referendum won on paranoia and bigotry.
Festivals / Tour – A ruddy good time.
Trump – The most dangerous threat to the planet.

Thank you very much for your time and good luck!
