Nicht mehr allzu lange, dann gibt es auch was Neues von Elbow. “Little Fictions” heißt das Album das am 3. Februar erscheint. Die erste Single “Magnificent (She Says)” kannt man sich bereits jetzt auf Youtube zu Gemüte führen.
“Little Fictions” ist die erste Platte, die die Band nach dem Weggang von Schlagzeuger Richard Jupp Anfang des Jahres zu viert in Schottland und Manchester aufnahm. Unterstützt wurde die Band von den Streichern des Hallé Orchestra Manchester, dem Hallé Ancoats Community Choir, Mitgliedern der London Contemporary Voices und dem Session-Drummer Alex Reeves.
Gitarrist Mark Potter berichtet über die gelöste Atmosphäre während der Aufnahmen und den Zusammenhalt innerhalb der Band: „It’s the sound of four people who love what they do and each other“, über ein Album, das aus dem Lauf der Dinge heraus entstand, dessen Tenor positiv und vorwärtsblickend ist.
“It’s really quite chunky and beat-heavy. There’s a sparseness to the songs which perhaps we’re not known for. The themes are ranging as always, great big themes and concerns for the world at the same time as falling in love, looking forwards and backwards and all of the things”, so Sänger Guy Garvey über die Platte.
